  • How do I adopt one of your pets?

Complete our pet seeker form, and we will do our best to find a suitable pet for your circumstances.

It can take weeks, if not months to find a match. Please be patient, and do not contact us for an update about your application unless you've heard from us first.

  • I've registered my interest in a pet. Why haven't I heard anything?

It takes a while to find a match between pets and potential owners, and we must always prioritise the welfare of the pet. You will only hear from us if there's a match. Please do not call us about your enquiry, unless we've called you first.

We have an extremely high number of requests for dogs. If you haven't heard from us within four weeks, we haven't matched you with a pet. To re-apply, email [email protected] from the email address you registered with your original enquiry.

  • Can the general public still access Wood Green's visitor centre?

No. Our centre remains closed to visitors unless you have an appointment with one of our pet services team.

  • Do you take donations of duvets and pillows?

No, we do not accept duvets or pillows, due to the cost and time it takes to launder them.

We do accept blankets, towels and sheets.

You may find other animal charities/shelters are willing to take your duvets and pillows, and hope you find someone that makes good use of them.

  • Do you accept food donations? What other items can I donate?

Yes. We take unopened and in-date food, as well as:

    • toys
    • knitted cat toys (we spray Feliway on them to keep the cats in our care nice and calm)
    • pet beds
    • blankets and knitted blankets (recommended size of 75cm x 75cm)

The charity shop at our Godmanchester centre also accepts towels, newspaper and shredded paper.

We're unable to take medicine (even if it's unopened), and no longer able to accept used ink cartridges.

Follow this link to our Amazon wishlists where you can purchase species-specific gifts for pets in need.

  • I am interested in applying for a job or want an update on my application

If you do not receive this email please resend your application or contact the recruitment line on 0300 303 9333 ext 1263. If you have not heard from us within two weeks, your application has not been successful. We reserve the right to remove the role if sufficient applicants have been received before the closing date.

You can check if we have fundraisers in your area on our residential fundraising page.

  • How do I contribute a guest blog/article on your website?

We cannot accept any sort of guest content or sponsored articles, as all the pet advice on our website (including blogs, images and videos) is produced by our team of behaviour and welfare experts.

  • Can I volunteer with you?

Volunteering with Wood Green is incredibly rewarding. Whether it’s spending time with pets on site, fostering a pet in your home, or working in a Wood Green shop, you’ll make a difference to the lives of pets in need.

We welcome anyone aged 18 or over to volunteer at our centre, and anyone aged 14 or over to help in our charity shops. Find your nearest one and apply here

Our current volunteering opportunities can be found on our volunteering page. If you’re interested in becoming a Wood Green fosterer, visit our fostering page

We hope you will find something of interest to you. Current opportunities are updated regularly, so do continue to check back until you find something suitable.

  • How do I rehome my pet?

We rehome hundreds of dogs, cats and small animals every year, so we know that making the decision to give up your pet can be hard. We're here to provide confidential and unbiased advice. Learn more about giving up your pet with Wood Green

  • What should I do if I find a deceased cat?

If you suspect the cat is recently deceased and you’re in a safe position to pick it up without obstructing traffic or pedestrians, take the cat to any local vet. They will be able to scan for a chip and contact owners before storing the body. If you’re not able to pick it up, (e.g. it’s not in a safe place, the body is in a poor state, or you don’t feel comfortable) then report the body to environmental health through your local council, who will be able to arrange safe collection.
